Montessori House Phuket International School

Montessori House Phuket International School (MHP) is situated close to Chalong Temple, surrounded by lush greenery. Naturally, the school follows the Montessori educational program. This globally recognised teaching method focuses on creating well-rounded individuals that understand the construction of learning rather than merely learning via memory. Overall, child development takes priority over pure academia. Students learn in a positive environment that embraces Thai culture and values with a global perspective.

The Montessori House Phuket International School emphasises the importance of solid and professional teacher-student relationships that nurture a child’s potential and celebrates individuality. All Montessori schools believe in building self-confidence and fostering independence so that pupils can make a positive impact on society. Students come from a range of backgrounds, race and religious beliefs, which is welcomed and helps build a greater understanding of others.

All the teachers are Montessori trained, with several Thai teachers having been with the school for over ten years and international teachers over two years. The teachers tend to work in partnerships understanding that the needs of the child must come first. There is very much a community and family spirit forged between teachers, parents and students. Students can attend the school from the age of two until twelve, at which point many will progress onto international school.

The school’s facilities are good, and each week there will be time dedicated to PE, art, music and learning Mandarin Chinese – a language that is likely to become widely used in the future. The school adopts a non-competitive environment based on cooperation.
